Nagpur, August 13, 2017: As part of its flagship CSR intervention, ‘Livelihood and Water Security’, YES BANK, India’s fifth largest private sector bank, has partnered the NATIONAL CANCER INSTITUTE, Nagpur, to provide safe and clean drinking water throughout the facility. Proposed as a state-of-the-art 500 bed 'Comprehensive Cancer Care Centre', the first phase of the NATIONAL CANCER INSTITUTE, Nagpur, was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, today, alongwith Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, and Shipping, Government of India, Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of State with Independent Charge for Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy and Mines, Government of India, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State with Independent Charge for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India, Shri Ratan Tata, Hon’ble Chairman, Tata Trust and Shri Dilip Shanghvi, MD, Sun Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
The NATIONAL CANCER INSTITUTE campus is spread across an estimated built up area of 7,00,000 sq. ft, comprising a main hospital building and allied facilities such as Yatri Niwas, Nurses Hostel, and Staff Housing. As part of the Phase I roll out, YES BANK installed a 20,000 liters per hour capacity, primary filtration plant for first-level groundwater treatment. YES BANK also set-up water filtration units at 18 locations and 16 water coolers in public spaces and staff areas to serve the main hospital building. These installations are estimated to provide safe and clean drinking water to more than 1,000 beneficiaries, daily.
The installations at the NATIONAL CANCER INSTITUTE, Nagpur, are part of YES BANK’s Livelihood and Water security initiative through which the Bank has committed to touch 100 million lives by providing access to safe and clean drinking water by 2020.
YES BANK’s ‘Livelihood and Water Security’ intervention (since inception in 2014) has provided access to safe and clean drinking water to more than 50 million beneficiaries.
YES BANK has also partnered with Indian Railways to provide safe and clean drinking water at 1,000 ‘D’ and ‘E’ category railway stations across India by 2019. In the last two years, the Bank in partnership with Konkan Railway and Central Railway has setup water purification systems across 276 ‘D’ and ‘E’ category railway stations in Maharashtra and Goa.
