Yamuna river ghat clean-up drive witnessed participation of more than 250 volunteers from YES BANK and NMCG
Cleaned Over 15 tons of garbage from the river ghat
June 4, 2018, Delhi: YES BANK, India’s fourth largest private bank, collaborated with National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) for Yamuna river ghat clean-up drive on Saturday, June 2, 2018. Dignitaries such as Shri Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, Director General, NMCG; Shri Hitesh Kumar Makwana, Executive Director (Projects), NMCG, and YES BANK officials among others joined more than 250 volunteers from YES BANK and NMCG, and cleaned over 15 tons of garbage from the river ghat.
The activity, part of YES BANK’s unique community engagement program - YES COMMUNITY, was undertaken to mark the upcoming World Environment Day on June 5, 2018.
Commenting on the initiative, Rana Kapoor, MD & CEO, YES BANK, said, “The Government has unveiled several mitigation and adaptation measures to rejuvenate the Ganga. Private sector has to play a pivotal role in influencing positive environmental and social outcome in the river ecosystem. Shri Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, Director General, NMCG, said, “Ahead of World Environment Day, NMCG in association with YES BANK organized a cleanliness drive at Kalindi Kunj ghat. In line with the theme of this year’s World Environment Day, a team volunteered to eliminate plastic along with other solid waste. It is heartening to see the enthusiastic involvement of so many other departments and local people. While I thank all who participated today in the event, I request the people of Delhi to join hands with us in more numbers to clean River Yamuna. The involvement of each and every one of us is indispensable to clean Ganga mission.”
