Mumbai, January 8, 2018: YES BANK, India’s fifth largest private sector bank partnered with Wharton India Startup Challenge, hosted by the Wharton India Economic Forum (WIEF) to offer a global platform to Indian startup to help strengthen the ecosystem and facilitate better resource exchange. The competition, initially launched in August, concluded with a global pitch event in Mumbai with select startups connecting with investors and industry stalwarts from the Indian startup ecosystem.
Eduvanz Financing Private Limited won the “Judges’ Choice Award” among ten highly innovative finalists chosen to pitch their business ideas to conference attendees, sponsors, and a global media audience. Eduvanz Financing Private Limited presented their novel idea on brining Social Impact at Scale, building a student financing platform for high-quality outcome-based forms of Skilling & Certification and winning a prize money of USD 12000.

As a part of the Wharton India Start-up Challenge, The Wharton India Economic Forum also felicitated Ms. Rakhee Kapoor Tandon, Founder, The Three Sisters Institutional Office, with the “Women Entrepreneur of the Year” Award.
The jury comprised of serial entrepreneurs & investors from Indian start-up ecosystem and renowned financial institutions & think-tanks of India like Rehan Yar Khan (Managing Partner, Orios Venture Partners), Sandeep Murthy (Partner, Lightbox Ventures), Shivani Bhasin Sachdeva (MD & CEO, India Alternatives), Karan Mohla (Executive Director, IDG Ventures India), Preeti Sinha (Senior President and Global Convenor, YES GLOBAL INSTITUTE at YES BANK) and Vishal Khare (Director, Enterprise, Citrix India and Angel Investor).

The top 10 finalists of the contest featured Ruban Bridge, Draft Spotting Technologies, SoundRex, Eduvanz Financing, Gamezop, Confirm Ticket, Perpule, Plexus, Anaxee and Saral Design. Three selected startups from the 10 finalists, pitched to the audience for the “Popular Choice Award”. Draftspotting technologies was voted by the audience as their favorite startup and were awarded USD 6000.
In addition to the finalists, the global platform also included ten other exhibitors like Luharia Technologies Pvt. Ltd, IIT Madras incubated Maximl Labs, BulBul Apps, Ware Now Services, Capzest, YES FINTECH accelerated Signzy Technologies, Innovision, Muddy Puddle Foods, Niramai and Scapic as part of a formal startup exhibitors for the event.
Having collected feedback for the past 5 years, Wharton India Startup Challenge debuted the startup Exhibit with the 5th Edition in order to give startups an opportunity to present their business to delegates and participants and make meaningful connect with investors and mentors. The audience voted Saral Design as the “best exhibitor” and they were awarded USD 2000 as prize money.
