YES BANK Receives Golden Peacock Environment Management Award 2014

 

Only Indian Bank recognized for the award since 1991

 

Delhi, July 11, 2014:YES BANK, India’s fourth largest private sector Bank was awarded the “Golden Peacock Environment Management Award - 2014” in the Banking (financial) Category at the 16th World Congress on Environment Management. Organized by Institute of Directors (IOD), YES BANK is the only bank to win this prestigious award in the history of the Golden Peacock Environment Management Award.

Speaking on this recognition, Mr. Rana Kapoor, MD and CEO, YES BANK, said, "It is an honour to be the first bank in India to win this coveted recognition. This recognition is important as banking sector as the largest intermediary in the economy plays a crucial role in enabling environment management. Since inception, YES BANK has been at the forefront of mainstreaming environmental sustainability, leadership on climate change and renewable energy and value creation through solutions for the under-banked and unbanked. We certainly hope awards like these will help evangelize sustainability and environment management in the entire banking sector”.

More recently YES BANK was conferred the ‘Outstanding Sustainable Project Financing’ at Karlsruhe Sustainable Finance Award in Germany and a commendation certificate for significant achievement at CII ITC Sustainability Award 2013.

The Golden Peacock Environment Management Awards were instituted in 1998 by the Institute of Directors, and recognize Indian organizations that demonstrate integration of best environmental management practices into their organizational operations to achieve world class stature in environmental sustainability.

The Award received over 473 responses which were shortlisted after a rigorous 3 tier assessment process done by an eminent jury of Environment, Health and Safety and Human Resources Management experts headed by former Chief Justice of India, Justice P.N. Bhagwati.
